Movie Game

Good work Natalie - that last one was The Breakup. The first time I saw it I didn't like it - well, I didn't like the ending. After watching it several more times I've changed my mind - still don't like the ending but I do like the show.

"They used to be fat and juicy, but now they're twisted, they had their lives stolen. Well they taste sweet, but really they're just humiliated grapes. I can't say I'm a big supporter of the raisin council."

Movie Game - A New Hint

Okay, there have been no guesses on this round of the movie game, and that's fun because now I get to give a new hint. So, this is another line from the same movie as I used in the last movie game post:

"Gary! Gary. You got three lemons."
"What my baby wants my baby gets, you know that."
"Ah, ah...yea but I wanted twelve. Baby wanted twelve."
"Why would you want twelve lemons?"
"Because I"m making a twelve lemon center peice."
"So no one's actually even eating them? They're show lemons?"
"Yea. They're just show lemons. Shown in the center of the table - glad you find that amusing, but I cannot fill a vase with only three lemons."
"Well can't you just use like, maybe a drinking glass?"
"I'm not using a drinking glass!"
"We could have a smaller version of the center piece."
"I'm not using a drinking glass for our center piece."
"You know what, I"ve got an idea. Why don't we go ahead and scratch the center piece idea altogether, because the chicken, that burnt my mouth, could maybe use a little bit of lemon on top of it. Guess what? Now we made a better meal versus something visually nice to look at."

Tricked by a Toddler

As I typed the title I started to wonder - is Quincy still a toddler, or would she now be considered a child? When I hear the word toddler I think of someone who's not very steady on their feet - and she is quiet stable. When do they graduate to childhood?

Anyway, she pulled a fast one on me this morning. We were eating our breakfast, cereal. She was feeding herself while I was feeding me and Max. She got towards the bottom where the cereal thins out in the milk and said:

"Mom, can you help me?"

"No, you're a big girl, and I'm feeding Max, you can do it."

She looked at the bowl for a moment before announcing:

"I'm done!"

"No you're not" I said, as I grabbed the bowl and began scooping together the last of the Cocoa Pebbles to feed to her - that's when I realized, I was just tricked by a toddchild.

A Sigh of Relief

I was just preparing to write a substantial post, when I heard a three year old say "mom, do you want to snuddle with me, huh? Come on, come on. Mom, you're my best friend." Who can keep that waiting? Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that Max had his MRI today, and everything is fine! He does have a little extra cerebral spinal fluid in his head, but no blood. There seems to be no structural imperfections or problems - so he is just a big headed little kid - which of course means he's going to be a genius. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers - they mean alot to us.

Movie Game

On a lighter note than my last post - it's probably time for another line. I was surprised that Fried Green Tomatoes went so quickly - good work Pattie. Here's one from what I'm watching now:

Max

It's been a long night and I should be asleep right now, but rest won't come - I am sick with worry. It's been a long week. On Tuesday I took Max in for his six month checkup, I had no idea that it would lead to anything out of the ordinary. Max has always been at the top of his growth charts, above the 90th percentile. He's my sturdy little guy. His pediatrician has commented before on the large size of his head, but Quincy has a big head too. On Tuesday she said that she would like him to get a CT scan - his head had jumped way up and was above the 95th percentile now. I tried not to worry that my 6 month old was having to get something like that. I kept telling myelf - and everyone kept telling me too, that I'm sure there's nothing wrong - he acts perfectly normal. Besides - he comes from a family of big heads - in some cases literally, in some cases figuratively, and in some cases both. He got the scan on Wednesday. Yesterday morning, Thursday, I took the kids to story time at the library. By the time I got out I had four phone messages from the doctor. My heart sunk - they don't leave you four messages in one hour just to tell you that everything is ok. When I got the messages I was on my way to Wal-Mart to get something special to cook for Valentines Day dinner - steak and shrimp. I pulled over in the Pancake City parking lot to call the doctor. She told me that there is an area of fluid - probably blood, in the front left
area of his head. She tried to get me to think of any kind of hit he may have taken - I can't recall any. She told me that she had called a neurosurgeon in Columbia and arranged for us to see him today - Friday. I tried to find out what she thought was the problem, what would be the solution, what to expect - she really couldn't say. I tried to get her to tell me that everything would be okay, she couldn't say. I spent the rest of the day feeling numb - you tell yourself that everything is ok, but 6 month old baby's shouldn't be seeing neurosurgeons. I scrapped the sugar cookie valentines we were going to make, and the dinner, and spent the afternoon holding my boy while Quincy watched "Cars." Thanks Melissa for the great meal, and for watching Quincy while we take him to the hospital. I'm lucky to have good friends who are so willing to help. Keep Max in your prayers today. He's the sweetest little guy, and my heart is breaking.

Welcome to The Table, Little Man

Max is officially eating three meals a day with us. Today he had his first lunch, which coincided with his first taste of squash. His reaction says it all.

Fingobanna, Libpotina, and Mike Wazowski

Quincy is quite the character. She's started saying two words, and we have no idea what they mean - fingobanna and libpotina. I thought maybe my brothers had taught her some spanish - but they don't seem to know what she's saying. Has anyone ever heard these words?

Today when she was helping me unload the dishwasher, she grabbed a small glass bowl and put it to her face and said "it's under the name googly bear." That's a line off Monsters Inc., Sully says it while Mike is putting his one giant contact in his eye. I thought it was pretty funny that she thought this bowl was the giant contact.

Movie Game

Good Job on winning the last one Nashelle, I love Runaway Bride.

This is my last night at home, well, my Utah home. I'm so sad that my little/long visit is about over. Here's the line from the movie my sisters and I are watching right now - I suspect that this one may be a little harder, because it's from a movie that's a little older. Good Work Jayne! That is a great line - made even better by the British accent of Hugh Jackman. Which inspired my latest poll - who would you go for, Leopold or Wolverine? For me, depends on the day.

Movie Game

Jodie won the last round of the movie game - she knew it was from Steel Magnolias. Actually, my sister Laura called me on the phone first and told me the answer, but she doesn't really count since she's my movie buddy, I knew it would be no challenge for her. Anyway, I love Steel Magnolias, so lines from it will definitely be used again.

"Well, insertion of bread into so-called toaster produces no toast at all, mearly warm bread. Inserting the bread twice produces charcoal. So, clearly to make proper toast it requires one-and-a-half insertions which is something the apparatus doesn't begin to allow! One assumes that when the General of Electric built it he might have tried using it! One assumes the General might take pride in his creations instead of just hoisting them on an unsuspecting public!

A Ton of Randomness

OK, I haven't blogged for about a week, and it seems like I have tons of stuff I want to get out there. First of All, for you Laura, pictures of the kids.

I love Max's hair that's starting to grow. He had about 10 on the very back of his head that were like two inches long, so he had his first haircut last week, to get rid of those. This picture is Just Call Me Spike!

Here Quincy is dressed up to go on a walk. I love her little glasses, I'm trying to forget that someone (Laura) said they make her look special. Her coat is so bulgy because she had to take her newest stuffed animal, "Little Fella" (she picks the names, not us) along with her, and she thought that in her coat was just the place for him. Now she sleeps with Lickers, Levi, Shrek Baby, and Little Fella every night.

Over Christmas break we took Quincy to see a couple movies. First, The Chipmunks - she sat through the whole thing and really liked it. Then, National Treasure. We should have known better. I spent the last quarter of it in the "arcade" with her. It took me all of two tries to learn how to conquer one of the games and win 220 tickets at a time. Among the other useless trinkets that Quincy won with her tickets is this pink slime. She was playing with it a couple days ago and I came back to find that she had plugged her ears and her nose with it. She loves that arcade now, she keeps asking to go back for more tickets. I took her once more and she came back with two more pots of slime.

I heard before that God "video records" your life, and when you die you'll get to watch it. There are so many parts with Quincy that I think I am going to want to watch over and over again. Last night when she was in the tub the following conversation took place:
"Mom, do you believe on Santa?"
"Yep"
"Does Max believe on Santa?"
"Yep, do you?"
"I do sometimes, but sometimes I do not. I don't believe on him when I am jumping on a trampoline, or when you have to cook dinner. Those are the times I do not believe on him."

Here's a little video from her dance class. I don't have a recorder, so I just did this with my digital camera. Sorry, I don't know how to rotate it, so for most of it you need to either put your head on side-ways, or turn your monitor sideways. For those of you who truly love the girl it will be worth it. As you will see, Quinn doesn't pay attention very well or do what the class is doing but she still has alot of fun. Isn't her teacher Miss Jodie a great Twister? This video does have sound, so to turn off my tunes go to the music player on the right-hand side of this page and pause it.

Max is the cutest little guy ever. I've nicknamed him The Hummingbird. There are the obvious physical similarities - the boy is the epitome of light and lean (yea, right), but he's also a really great hummer. Sometimes while he's eating he hums for 20 minutes straight. On Sunday he was doing that in the "nursing mothers" room - the other baby and mother that were in there at the moment didn't make a peep, and here is my boy loudly letting everyone know of his enjoyment of the meal.

Finally, my movie game. Nobody knew that the line "I once dated a girl with a club foot, I mean she had the big shoe and everything" came from Return To Me. The movie I have in mind now is probably THE BEST Chick Flick of ALL TIME. I'm going to give a line, and if nobody guesses I'll give another one in a few days. This one has to be popular enough for someone to get. So, the first clue is:
"I'm not depressed! I just happen to have been in a VERY BAD MOOD FOR THE LAST FORTY YEARS!"

A Little Movie Game

I love chick-flicks, and I usually get one and watch it about 17 times in a week. My sister and I love to quote lines to each other - lately it's been via text. Last night during my 2am feeding I sent her "We got Smuckers to take the seeds out of the jam, if you ask me, we're heroes." This morning I had the response "every once in a while some moron sticks his head out of the cave and says 'I like the seeds, without the seeds it just jelly.'" That's one of our favourites from Kate and Leopold. So, here's a little game. I'll post a line - you tell me what it's from, or more lines, or whatever. I think this should be fun.

This weeks line, from the show I've had playing continuously since yesterday morning:

Merry Christmas!!!!

Quinn saw several Santa's this year. I must be honest, this one at the city courthouse was my favourite. We went on the day that an ice storm had come through, and she was the only kid there at the time, so she got to sit and visit and long as she wanted. I think she told most of the santa's that she wanted a camera for Christmas, and so she got a little one in her stocking.

Every now and then I look at Quincy and realize that she has grown before my eyes. Since there are always pictures taken on Christmas, I was comparing her growth. What a difference a year makes!

Max has started on the big boy foods. With Quincy I went strictly by-the-book and waited until exactly six months to start her on rice cereal, but this hefty guy just seems to need a little more than the milk he's been getting. You can't see it too well, but he's got it all over his face here - it was his first try. He seemed to like the taste, but was confused by the spoon and the texture.

A couple weeks ago my friend Heidi came by to show me how to use my new photoshop, which I really need to play with more. She brought along little Carson who's only a few days older than Max. Max was holding onto his ear for several minutes, but Carson didn't seem to mind.

Me, Quin, and Max have all gone through the stomach flu now, hopefully Israel doesn't get it. Here's The Girl on her sick bed, she was so happy to have a little gift to open a couple days before Christmas. She loves her Shrek baby - Thanks Julia! And here's The Boy in his new jammies and beanie - thanks Grandma, Grandpa and Julia!

I've Got Tunes!!

Thanks to some inquiring friends, I've learned how to add my favourite music to my blog. I'm so excited.

The first song I added "Isn't That Everything" would be my theme song if my life were a TV show. All that I have really is all I need.

Next is "Missing Missouri". My sisters and I have a bond with this song - it's kind of a mixed of version of how I feel sometimes, and I think how they feel sometimes. "I'm caught up in missing Missouri, cause I want to be with my family....I'm almost home, where they love me, where they know me..." Caught up in missing Utah just doesn't have the same ring - but it's all about being with the ones we love.

Next is "Song for a Winters Night", I just think it's beautiful.

Finally, "You Belong To Me", that's my grandma and grandpa's song. Grandpa's been gone for nearly four years now, and I know granmda misses him so much.
